Making Mayhem

The BattleBots Experience

Creative direction + Design + Strategy
‘Making Mayhem: The BattleBots Experience,’ is a tactile, traveling exhibition designed to bring the battle to life in front of your very eyes. This fully immersive exhibition will tour science centers, museums and educational institutes across the US.

Our goal with this project was to develop an experience that could bring the well known robot fighting television show out from the small screen. Starting with only the show and the brand, I led our design team through the entire creative process from ideating on traffic flow patterns to developing the finished renderings.

Working in tandem with our copywriters, we developed a complete story based around the idea that each and every guest will get to experience the entire life cycle of a BattbleBot. At first, each guest learns about the history of the brand and gets inspired by previous champions. Then they move into an educational area where they learn about the different drive systems, weapons, armor, and special effects. Once they've learned about the anatomy of a bot, they head to the fabrication station where they can learn not only about how each individual component is manufactured, but they get to solidify their choices and create the bot of their dreams. Those customized digital bots then enter our BattleBox, a custom half sized version of the arena from the show that features 3 interactive video screens where guests can drive their very own bot around the arena and battle with other players.
